Endured such opposition from sinners – contradiction, dispute, strife, opposition, they declared themselves against Jesus, they refused to follow and obey Jesus, to the point of killing Him.

Consider Him – think over, contemplate, to ponder, to estimate.

“ Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Hebrews 12:3

Endured – to remain, to persevere under misfortunes and trials, to hold fast our faith, to bear bravely and calmly, to have fortitude, patiently suffer.

“For the joy set before him he endured the cross, despising its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2b

Author and Perfecter- Chief Leader, Pioneer, Captain, Example, Finisher, Jesus in His own person raised faith to it’s perfection and set before us the highest example of faith.

Fixing- Looking attentively, separation from looking at the things of this world.

“ Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.” Hebrews 12:2a

Marked out for us- Predestined Foreordained, Foreknowledge, calling Ephesians 1:4-6, Romans 8:28-30 Ephesians 2:8-10.

Race- Journey, Adventure the place of assembly, the place of contest, arena, stadium, struggle, contest, battle, effort, anxiety.

The characteristic of one who is not swerved from their deliberate purpose and continues to stay with loyalty and faith even in the midst of the greatest trials and sufferings

Perseverance – patient continuance in well doing, steadfastness, constancy, endurance,.

“And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us” Hebrews 12:1b

Entangles- besets us, thwarts us, competes against us Galatians 5:13-18.

Throw off – Lay aside, cast down, separate ourselves, get rid of, renounce.“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses.” Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.” Hebrews 12:1a
